Vybz Kartel, Shy FX and Clipz join forces on Just Love, a new 0207 Def Jam release built for festival systems, carnival energy, and UK jungle pressure.
The track pulls from ’90s rave and jungle culture without turning into museum cosplay. Rolling breaks, a heavy low-end, and a sharp kick-drum hook give the production its weight, while Kartel’s vocal sits cleanly inside the drum & bass framework. Different lane for him, but it lands.

Clipz played an early dubplate version of this at my Digital Soundboy Carnival stage, and straight away I could hear where it could go. The vibe was instant. Kartel’s vocal was already sitting beautifully on the track, but I could hear a few different angles that could take it even further. We started bouncing ideas back and forth, reshaping the arrangement and adding a few new elements until everything clicked into place. Clipz and I had been talking for ages about getting in the studio together, and this felt like the perfect way to kick things off. It’s got that effortless feel to it now, but that usually comes from everyone bringing the right energy and ideas to the table. It’s been a staple in my sets ever since.

This one came about like most dubs these days, made at 5 am the day before Shy’s stage at Carnival on August Bank Holiday Monday. The Vybez vocal kinda just sat so good on the drums and a simple B line. Then Shy came up with some new angles to take it to another level and started reworking it, and a few bax n fwds we got it to “Just Love.”
Just Love works because the chemistry feels practical, not forced: a dubplate idea tested in real space, reworked by producers who understand pressure, and lifted by a vocal that knows how to cut through noise.
