UK bassline pioneer T2 is back with a bang, joining forces with MIST and TRC for his latest single, ‘Went Mad’, taken from his forthcoming seven-track EP 4MF. With his iconic 2007 anthem ‘Heartbroken’ enjoying a massive resurgence on TikTok, the Leeds producer is introducing his unmistakable sound to a whole new generation while reconnecting with the genre that made him a household name.

Blending old-school bassline nostalgia with a fresh, contemporary energy, ‘Went Mad’ samples T2’s early production ‘Show Me’, a track he created when he was just 15. With MIST bringing his distinctive delivery and TRC adding a modern twist to the production, the result bridges nearly two decades of UK bassline history.

Speaking about the collaboration, T2 explains: “‘Went Mad’ samples ‘Show Me’, a track I made when I was 15 in Leeds, so this one’s a full-circle moment for me. Mist grew up listening to ‘Show Me’ on the bus as a kid, so working on a record built around it takes him back too.”

The forthcoming 4MF EP promises plenty more dancefloor energy, featuring collaborations with H-Boogie on ‘Doin It’, Elphi on ‘Sunshine’, Jaron Smalls on the bass-heavy ‘Restless’ and fellow Yorkshire producer TS7 on ‘Like I Love You’. Bringing together familiar faces and emerging talent, the project celebrates the infectious sound that helped define a generation of UK club culture.

The inspiration behind 4MF, which stands for For My Fans, came following a chance encounter with a young supporter on London’s Millennium Bridge. The experience reminded T2 of the lasting connection his music has with listeners and inspired him to return to his roots.

With bassline experiencing a fresh wave of popularity through artists including Sammy Virji, Interplanetary Criminal and Fred again.., T2’s return couldn’t be better timed. Nearly 20 years after ‘Heartbroken’ reached number two in the UK charts, the producer is proving that his influence remains as relevant as ever.

‘Went Mad’ is out now, with 4MF set to continue T2’s latest chapter in UK bassline.
