This article originally appeared in Uncut Take 339 [June 2025] A pro ’til the very end, Jim Keltner still talks about his home neighbourhood of Los Feliz in terms of its proximity to his place of work for the last six decades. “It’s basically three or four minutes to any of the studios in Hollywood. I felt misunderstood by the German music industry. They called me too extreme. From Eminem teaching her about authenticity to the Nirvana song that made her pick up a guitar, this is the soundtrack to Mimi Barks life
“The first album I ever remember hearing was Michael Jackson’s HIStory, and I listened to it on my cassette player. He’s the first artist that I ever became obsessed with. The sense of rhythm and drama, the perfection that himself and his music brings with it is something that I felt long before I understood what artistry really meant. His song Rock With You especially stuck with me, it’s the one I enjoy the most, I love it. It’s just so smooth. Whenever MJ’s playing I have to sing along.”The Eminem Show is the first CD I ever bought. I…

Based in Los Angeles, Reina Mora delivers heartfelt emotional pop on “Bad Decision”. From the very start of the song, within the first 10 seconds, you are greeted by atmospheric guitar and her stunning vocals…. a shimmering, emotionally rich pop track that blends intimacy, nostalgia, and uplifting radio-ready energy. Before the percussion even comes in, it carries a soft mid-2000s feel that recalls some of the best indie music from the UK during that era. It is very upbeat, with bouncy guitar lines, but once the sweeping percussion and soothing backing vocals arrive, the track takes on a new life. It…
