Leicester based artist and producer sk. returns with “Inconsistent”, his fourth single of 2026. Following collaborations with UK rap veteran Danny Sanchez on Pick Up the Phone and producer Jack Dean on Infrared, the new release showcases another side of his evolving sound.
Produced by rising UK talent Ethan Starr, Inconsistent blends grime-inspired hip hop with jazzy production, bouncing basslines, laid back piano and guitar, creating a smooth, reflective groove. Lyrically, the track explores living with ADHD, navigating relationships and learning to build a healthier relationship with yourself, balancing introspective storytelling with an uplifting energy.
Known for fusing grime, jazz and hip hop into a nostalgic yet distinctive sound, sk. continues to establish himself as one of Leicester’s most exciting emerging artists.
sk. sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:
1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?
I’ve always been infatuated by music since I was a kid, from my mum putting on old soul/90’s dance music in the car, to my dad putting Kerrang/Scuzz on the TV. I was always exposed to different styles of music, then when I was around 12 I started learning how to play the drums, it didn’t click too much with me at the time. A year later, I picked up a guitar and then got into producing/rapping around the age of 14, then the rest is history.
2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?
I’ve been a fan of Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn for a long time, Frankie’s lyrics always felt like he was speaking thoughts and feelings that I had myself, would love to colab with them one day. Paul Stephan, Joe James, Kofi Stone & Bawo are bucket list colabs for me, they all their have own unique style and pull it off so well. When it comes to producers, t.o, Scruz & BexBlu would be some of my dream producers to work with.
3.What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?
So I’m working on my next single, which should be out some time in July hopefully. Following my recent release “Inconsistent”.I’ve also not announced it yet, but as an exclusive, I am currently work on a small EP which I aim to release in winter time. This was supposed to earlier, but I don’t want to put the pressure on releasing something sooner than it’s ready, I’d rather take my time and when it comes to art, you can’t rush it. One thing I can say about the project, is it has some exciting production credits on there which will be announced later in the year.
4. How would you describe your sound?
Always find this one hard, as I feel as an artist I’m constantly evolving and adapting my sound. But in short, I would say the stuff im working on currently is grime inspired jazz-rap. I’d love to incorporate more soul/rnb into my songs, which I’m sure we’ll see more of soon.
5. What’s your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?
I would say after trying to make my music career work for 8 years, I took a 2 year break in 2023. After this, I came back in early 2025 and started releasing again, firstly putting out old material I had, but the change of mindset after coming back and being consistent with my releases is what I feel proud of the most. If it’s one specific moment I would say, would be when namesbliss chose me to support him on the Nottingham leg of his Signature Sound tour in 2025.
