Illinois alternative rock trio Lucky Mary Blonde has recovered a long-lost live recording from 1988 using AI-assisted audio restoration and professional engineering.

The concert was recorded during one of the band’s final performances at Gatsby’s music club in Carbondale, Illinois, before the trio disbanded later that year.

The cassette remained buried for nearly four decades before drummer John Baldus began restoring it with engineers and original members Todd Baxter and Jerry Tilk.

A second tape later supplied missing audio, helping the team recover a clearer version without losing the original live character.

The restored collection features 16 live performances, including 11 previously unreleased songs and five tracks from the band’s 1987 debut album, Let the Moonlight Burn.

The first two singles, 700 Candles Burn and I’m a Romantic, are available now, with the complete live album scheduled for release on September 4, 2026.

For FM PRO TECH, the wider story is how AI-assisted restoration is giving independent artists new ways to recover damaged recordings, preserve overlooked music history and bring forgotten archives back into circulation.
