DJ YUKI Makes Self-Belief The Hook On The Baddest

For independent dance artists, owning the record is increasingly only one part of the equation. The bigger play is owning the ecosystem around it.

London DJ, producer and vocalist DJ YUKI pushes further into that model with The Baddest, released VIA her own GLAZD Records.

Built around a rolling house groove, driving bassline and YUKI’s own vocal, the track keeps its architecture deliberately direct. Rather than treating the voice as decoration, repetition becomes the main production device; a phrase engineered to move quickly from performer to dancefloor. DJ YUKI says:

The Baddest is basically a daily affirmation with a bassline.

That description pretty much nails the record. Its strength is not complexity but function: bass, rhythm and vocal reinforcement working as one loop until the lyric feels less like a topline and more like a room-wide response.

There is a wider FM PRO TECH angle here too. Artist-owned labels are increasingly becoming flexible platforms rather than simple release vehicles, giving DJs control over catalogue, branding, events, community and the cultural language surrounding the music.

GLAZD Records extends beyond releases through its Donut Disturb events, bringing DJs, daytime parties and community together outside conventional nightlife.

YUKI has passed 17 million streams, with support from Armin van Buuren, Diplo and Jamie Jones, plus appearances at London Pride, Isle of Wight Festival and Grand Prix events.

She has also worked across fashion and culture with Sennheiser, L’Oréal, YSL and Fenty Beauty, while curating music around London Fashion Week and other events.

For GLAZD, that crossover matters. The modern independent label increasingly has to function across records, experiences, visuals and audience relationships rather than relying on streaming alone.

The Baddest keeps that strategy refreshingly uncomplicated: one sticky vocal, one heavy groove and a message designed to survive well beyond the DJ booth.

Sometimes the smartest technology is still repetition used properly.
