Life 2.0 is written and directed by Michael Dorn, with the likes of Marina Sirtis and Michelle Hurd on board too. More here.
Sometimes, if you want to get a science fiction project on the big screen, you just have to do it yourself. That appears to be the approach of Star Trek veteran Michael Dorn, known across decades as Worf in the show. He’s written a brand new sci-fi movie called Life 2.0, and he’s also directed it as well.
Furthermore, he’s been going through his mobile phone to get some other Star Trek alumni involved. The lead cast will be Dorn himself, alongside Marina Sirtis, Michelle Hurd and Dominic Keating, who each represent in their own ways a different era of the franchise.
The movie has been shot, too, right here in the UK. It marks Michael Dorn’s feature directorial debut, and the film has now headed off to the American Film Market in search of distributors around the world. That means it might still be some time before we get to see Life 2.0, but hopefully, it’ll secure distribution fairly swiftly and then we can gleam more about it.
For now, we know that the plot revolves around Dorn’s operative in deep space isolation, kept company by an AI hologram. Right up until the moment where a new companion arrives, and an accident begins to throw up a few secrets and mysteries. Quite who fits into what role, outside of Dorn himself, isn’t yet clear.
There is, however, an official website and a poster you can feast your eyes on. The website can be found right here, and the poster should have magically appeared below these very words. No trailer as of yet, though.
More on Life 2.0 as we hear it. As noted, it might yet be a while, but hey, that’s the joy of independent filmmaking.
