Open Mike Eagle and producer Kenny Segal have joined forces for their first full collaborative album, DOOMED!, a brilliantly offbeat hip hop break up record featuring appearances from billy woods, Hemlock Ernst and Gothic Tropic.
Friends and occasional collaborators for almost two decades, the pair finally come together for a full length project at a pivotal moment. Processing the end of a turbulent relationship, Mike turns heartbreak into surreal, darkly funny storytelling, while Segal provides the distinctive production backdrop. As Mike explains, the album moves between “dream and nightmare, bitter and sweet, sadness and freedom,” finding inspiration in everything from arguments over the colour of a rental car to resisting the urge to check an ex’s social media.
Alongside the album, the duo have shared a video for opening track “Out To Lunch”, casting Mike and Kenny as reluctant children’s entertainers. The release follows Mike’s recent US tour with Clipping, with further dates alongside Armand Hammer coming later this year.
