LA based multidisciplinary artist Dani Offline introduces her debut album Lover’s Discourse, a lush 12 track exploration of love, romance and emotional complexity wrapped in the warmth of ’70s soul, jazz and contemporary R&B.
Inspired by the Quiet Storm radio Dani grew up listening to in D.C. and Roland Barthes’ 1978 book A Lover’s Discourse, the record began life through diary entries and musical improvisations. Co-produced alongside longtime collaborator Vooo, its primarily analogue, sample-free production gives tracks such as ‘weary soul’, ‘ouch!’ and ‘2 weeks notice’ a rich vintage character, while the infectious ‘reasons’ and buoyant ‘icarus’ bring a lighter, more rhythmic energy.
