David Bowie’s celebrated Isolar II world tour is set to return to arenas nearly 50 years after it first crossed the globe.
David Bowie In “Stage”, a new immersive production created in partnership with the David Bowie Estate and filmmaker Brett Morgen, will premiere at Berlin’s Uber Arena on February 14, 2027, as part of the 77th Berlin International Film Festival.
Based on previously unseen 35mm footage shot during Bowie’s 1978 Earls Court concerts, the production promises to recreate the experience of attending one of the singer’s Isolar II shows. The performances formed the basis of Bowie’s 1978 live album Stage and captured him touring in support of his acclaimed Low and “Heroes” period.
The project originates from footage uncovered by Morgen while making his 2022 documentary Moonage Daydream. Working alongside the Bowie Estate, Morgen has spent years restoring and reworking the material for presentation on a vast scale, with the intention of placing audiences inside the concert rather than simply screening archive film.
According to the producers, the show combines multiple large-format screens, immersive surround sound and a specially designed lighting production to create what they describe as a hybrid of cinema and live performance.
The concert footage captures Bowie backed by one of the key live bands of his career, including Adrian Belew, Carlos Alomar, George Murray, Dennis Davis, Roger Powell, Sean Mayes and Simon House. The setlist draws heavily on Low and “Heroes”, alongside classics such as “Ziggy Stardust”, “Rebel Rebel”, “Fame”, “The Jean Genie” and “Suffragette City”.
Wonderworld founder Rob Hallett said the aim was to remain faithful to Bowie’s original vision while introducing it to a new generation of fans.
Following its Berlin premiere, David Bowie In “Stage” is expected to tour internationally, with further dates yet to be announced.
Tickets for the Berlin debut go on sale on October 30, with a presale beginning on October 28.
