Following an exclusive theatrical preview rollout attached to screenings of Backrooms, A24 has today officially released the first trailer online for Adam Wingard’s upcoming action-horror feature Onslaught.

The project marks a return to independent genre filmmaking for Wingard and his longtime screenwriting partner Simon Barrett. The duo previously collaborated on cult favorites You’re Next and The Guest, as well as the studio tentpole Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Adria Arjona (Hit Man) leads an ensemble cast that includes Dan Stevens, Eric Wareheim, Reginald VelJohnson, Michael Biehn, and UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira, alongside Drew Starkey and Rebecca Hall. Arjona also serves as an executive producer on the film.

Onslaught centers on a mother and former Army sniper (Arjona) living in a desert trailer park community. When a rogue squad of genetically engineered super soldiers escapes from a secret military base and begins terrorizing the area, she is forced to make use of her specific military skillset to protect her young daughter.

Production on the feature was co-financed by Lyrical Media and A24. Producers include Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett of Ryder Picture Company, Alexander Black for Lyrical Media, alongside Wingard and Jeremy Platt via their Breakaway Civilization banner, and Barrett. Lyrical’s Jon Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers serve as executive producers.

Principal photography on the project took place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, beginning in November 2024 and wrapping in January 2025.

Onslaught is slated for a nationwide theatrical release on September 4, 2026.

The official trailer can be viewed below.
