Now that we’re in May, we’re closing in fast on Call of the Wild and we’re going to be back for another year! So we’re getting to know as many of the bands set to play the Trailblazer Stage in 2026 that we can pin down. KURO play the Friday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are KURO, an alternative metal band from sunny Glasgow, Scotland!
How long have you been playing together as a band?
We formed during lockdown between Andrew and J.B, soon followed by drummer Ruffy with the lineup being completed by Robbie and things have sounded solid as fuck ever since.
Where does the name of the band come from? Describe your music. What makes you unique?
The name is Japanese in origin, taking inspiration from a lot of underground movies. Musically we’d say we’re one part insanely dirty riffs, one part catchy beats and a whole lot of energy that’s going to melt your face. Especially live.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
We always strive to give the highest energy performance out of any band on the bill. We’re not afraid to break a sweat, climb shit, get in with the crowd, you name it. If you want to see an unpredictable high octane show, we’ll tick that box.
Have you been to Call of the Wild before? What did you think?
JB has. He’s always been a big fan of the lineups, often citing when Hardcore Superstar played. For the rest of us, it’s our first time and stoked to be getting to experience it as one of the acts on top of that.
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Call of the Wild?
“It’s going to be a good Summer.”
What sort of setlist can we expect?
We’re definitely keeping it kicking with the newer stuff. You can expect to hear the songs from our latest EP, Circling The Drain, where we doubled down on the heavy side of our sound to a really positive reaction. We love playing it and the crowds seem to dig it.
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
We played with Glamour Of The Kill a couple of months ago and they were awesome guys. They’re a lot of fun so it would be great to be able to catch their set.
What are you working on at the moment?
We’ve got some fresh fast-paced tunes baking in the oven that we’re hoping to debut at our headline show in Glasgow on July 3rd. We’re increasing the energy levels with these ones, so no ballads on the horizon just yet.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
We did a couple of shows with Genitorturers last year and they had a performer named Skwerll with them. He was hammering nails into his face and had sparks flying out his ass. That was pretty wild.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
There’s usually beers of some description on the go, but just before stage time it’s a scotch or bourbon to really get the engine started.
