East London artist Leah Cleaver returns with the warm, soulful ‘SUNSHINE DAZE’, a blissed-out celebration of friendship, community and those rare moments when everything feels a little lighter. Following her ode to queer Black love, ‘COUNTRY CLUB’, the new single also arrives with news of Leah’s forthcoming EP, BABY DON’T MOVE!, due October 21st.
Built around a golden-hour warmth, ‘SUNSHINE DAZE’ captures the simple joy of being outside with the people you love, soaking up the sun and letting the world slow down for a while. Leah describes it perfectly as “sunshine in a bottle”, a track that could soundtrack anywhere from a busy city to the smallest of towns, provided you have good friends around you.
The new EP promises to expand on Leah’s increasingly distinctive musical world, turning intimate memories and everyday experiences into cinematic, bass heavy soundscapes. As she puts it, the project is “a love letter to all my people”, celebrating the friendships and relationships that have helped shape her sense of self, her Blackness and her queerness.
Since making her solo debut with 2025’s Pushing Up Flowers, Leah has quickly established herself as one of the UK’s more unpredictable and exciting new artists. Her eclectic sound draws from influences including Little Simz, Talking Heads and Anderson .Paak, with Leah affectionately describing her approach as ‘jump-scare music’ thanks to its unexpected twists and turns.
That debut earned support from DIY, CLASH, Hunger, Wonderland and NOTION, while NME included Leah in its NME 100 for 2026 and The Independent named her among its acts to watch this year. She has also worked with Fraser T. Smith at Abbey Road Studios and collaborated with Kae Tempest, including a feature on ‘Freedom! ‘25’ and an appearance at his headline O2 Academy Brixton show.
With ‘SUNSHINE DAZE’, Leah reveals a softer and more soulful side of her sound, while BABY DON’T MOVE! looks set to take the ideas, relationships and experiences behind her music somewhere even bigger.
