Manchester rapper KinKai has returned with his first solo release in six years, unveiling new single Rendezvous Blues via ROOT 73 Records.

Blending jazzy boom bap, neo-soul and alternative UK hip hop, the track finds KinKai reflecting on the emotional aftermath of a date that never quite lived up to expectations. Equal parts introspective and relatable, Rendezvous Blues captures the awkwardness, disappointment and quiet humour that often come with modern dating.

Produced by Paya, the single pairs soulful, live feel instrumentation with KinKai’s signature conversational lyricism, marking the start of a new creative chapter for the Manchester artist.

After building a reputation through collaborations with artists including ENNY, Children of Zeus, IAMDDB and Blue Lab Beats, KinKai has earned support from BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Radio 1 and Spotify’s editorial playlists. Previous releases have amassed more than 20 million streams, cementing his place as one of the UK’s most respected independent voices.

Rendezvous Blues is the first taste of a broader run of new music, visuals and collaborations set to arrive over the coming months. The release also serves as the debut outing for ROOT 73 Records, the new label from grassroots organisation ROOT 73, which has spent the past decade championing emerging artists and creative communities across the UK.
