Movin’ On cut into the afterglow on How We Used To, a guitar-led indie single about the version of the past that keeps looking better from a distance.

Built around Elijah Jenkins’ lead vocal, How We Used To leans on memory rather than melodrama, with driving guitars, tight bass, and drums carrying the track back toward the band’s live energy.

    Jenkins explains:

‘How We Used To’ is about forgetting the bad times with a certain person in your life and reflecting on the nostalgia of the good times. I wrote it between my second and third year at university in Manchester reflecting on the past year and things that had happened. You know you’re better off without the person but you still remember the good times and there’s that part of you that wonders ‘if you play pretend’ it’ll all be alright.

That tension drives the single: something is over, but the easier version keeps replaying.

The frame stays clean and band-led, with grounded rhythm guitar, sharp lead lines, moving bass, and drums giving the emotion real weight.

What began as Jenkins’ solo project now moves as a full band, with Alfie Powell on lead guitar, George Bengree on bass, and Scott Disley on drums.

The acoustic roots remain, but How We Used To brings more size, weight, and shared momentum.

Movin’ On keep the nostalgia in check, leaving the track between a glowing past and a present already moving forward.
