A new 100,000-square-foot Beatles visitor attraction is due to open in Liverpool in 2028.
The new site, located in the former St Johns Market building opposite Lime Street station, will replace the current Beatles Story museum at Albert Dock and be more than four times its size. Apple Corps will assume control of The Beatles Story in 2027 before relocating it to the city-centre venue the following year.
Described as an immersive, multi-hour experience, the attraction will trace The Beatles’ story from post-war Liverpool through Hamburg, the Cavern Club and Beatlemania to global fame. Visitors will be able to explore recreations of key locations including Abbey Road, Shea Stadium and Savile Row, with some sets and props drawn from Sam Mendes’ forthcoming The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event, due in cinemas in April 2028.
The project will also incorporate Liverpool’s St Johns Beacon, which will be redeveloped as a standalone Yellow Submarine-themed viewing experience offering panoramic views across the city.
Apple Corps says proceeds from every ticket sold will contribute to a newly established Apple Corps Liverpool Trust, which will support emerging Liverpool artists and cultural projects.
Announcing the plans, Apple Corps CEO Tom Greene said the development would give The Beatles “a world-class destination for fans to visit in the centre of the city where the story started”.
Paul McCartney added: “I find it incredible and humbling that people are still interested in our story… I can’t wait for people to be able to step into our story and share the experience.”
Ringo Starr said: “Liverpool was, and still is, music city. And now we are expanding The Beatles Story experience in Liverpool. The beat goes on.”
The Liverpool attraction will become only the second permanent Beatles experience operated by Apple Corps, following the planned opening of a Beatles attraction at 3 Savile Row in London in 2027.
