With his new mixtape Bloccstaron the horizon, Lambeth rapper Ceebo links up with UK rap favourite Blanco for new single “Gets Like Dat”.
Built around a sombre jazz loop and skittering drums, the track finds both artists reflecting on the realities of navigating the music industry, particularly the tension between commercial expectations and maintaining creative freedom. Blanco’s own evolution from UK drill into more experimental territory makes him a natural fit for the record, while Ceebo describes working with one of his early inspirations as both “exciting and humbling.”
Blanco adds: “I feel like I haven’t really spoken about the struggles that I’ve faced in my career as an artist, namely making the songs I actually wanted to make, but couldn’t. A song like this gets to show the people what I actually went through.”
“Gets Like Dat” offers another glimpse into Bloccstar, a concept driven mixtape that uses a Macbeth inspired arc to explore ambition, morality, artistic integrity and the pursuit of mainstream success. It follows previous singles “Parable Of A Skinnyman” and “Revolut”, as Ceebo continues to establish himself as one of the more thoughtful emerging voices in contemporary UK rap.
